Let's diss Aamir and Satyameva Jayate!!

So Aamir's Satyameva Jayate touched many hearts, and not to forget resulted in too many heart-burns.

Sometimes I feel sad for all of us, what have we become? Such cynics, such pessimistic souls...that when someone tries to persuade us to THINK, we slam the person. Why are we so insecure that we always NEED to find a motive behind someone's deeds always?

We are insecure people.. with a thought process "If I could not, how can he?"..

I don't have too much time to go and pull ears of the people who are dissing SJ or Aamir, for that matter. I have a simple thing to say, this guy Aamir, he had a choice...to take up a KBC or Dus ka Dum if it was ONLY about money, but he made THIS choice. He chose to bring forward the same old issues that many in the country are fighting about, because he knew that in a country where no-one bothers even about the problems of their neighbors, STAR-POWER helps!!

I appreciate his choice and I would like to tell a certain Taslima Nasreen that instead of spending her time and energy on questioning why people did not react when so-called common people/activists talked about such issues on televsion?, she should acknowledge that a person who could have easily earned his money from a game show, decided to put in his effort and time into something meaningful...even if let's assume for a second, his MOTIVE was fame.. but does Aamir really need any more fame?

He has not promised a change, He has not promised that he is going to make this country a better place to live in. All he has done is taken a step forward to make people AWARE. He is trying to reach out to people.

So instead of throwing shit at him, Look inwards for once. Did you ever pay attention to any other Zindagi Live or Salaam Zindagi before? Nope. You hardly did. This man has enough money and fame to enjoy as much as he can..so if he has started something as significant as this. Let us sit back and contribute in our way, just by watching and acknowledging the issues so we can accept that "YES! This is my country and atleast I won't let it rot more".

We live almost all our lives with such thoughts when someone tries to shake or wake us up "Saala bakwaas karra hain, nautanki, chal beer uthatey hain, Sunday manaatey hain"... "Picture kon si lagi hain yaar?"

Baaki, as I said once, UNLESS IT HAPPENS TO YOU, IT'S ALL NEWS!! So nobody bothers about female feticide or dowry deaths or rapes or whistle-blowers being killed, unless it happens to them or someone close to them.

So, Mast raho, Dilchasp raho.. bas thoda Satark aur Jaagruk bhi :)

Thanks Sakshi and AD for posting on this :)

Brilliant post! I agree to your point totally. The same thing happened with Anna and all the campaign. These people are so pessimists and cynics that if someone is trying to do something, even if something is small, they are always ready to mock!

As they say, if 100 people are dissing the show, there are 101 who are becoming aware of the issue they never cared because of Aamir being involved.

So true...I find the cynics so irritating at times, its as if they have nothing better to do...I fail to understand what stops ppl from being optimistic and seeing things in a positive light! I need to see this show...am yet to see it.

Anybody who starts something good needn't be flawless.
And when they want to put someone down they bring all those flaws into the picture and argue...

Well that ain't a healthy cynicism either :-/

What ppl forget is when something good is being done we need to support them in that...
and forget all the WHYs HOWs WHENs WHEREs and stufff so on...

Khair...

what i loved abt this post was i found someone who tho like me abt ths issue...

Superlike this post! Really don't understand why every damn thing and every damn person has to be criticized.

And I see all the talks doing rounds are about Aamir - the subject has kinda taken backseat!

But then any type of talks - negative or positive - are atleast making people aware. Somewhere the issues that are and will be highlighted are going to get registered in their brain. Thats good enough even if some idiots are yapping only about Aamir Khan.

Sakshi May 8, 2012 at 10:43 PM

Totally agree :)
Like I have written, I don't like amir, but that doesn't mean that i don't appreciate the fact that he took up what he did!

Thanks for reiterating :)

Me,

Right you are. If I am not mistaken it was Sant Kabir who said JIS TAN LAAGI WOH HI JAANE, BAAKI JAANE NAA KOYE. I only hope that he can sustain the tempo and bring out evils which ail our society so much. We all talk but if we do look inwards how many of us do act? If we all can contribute even a little towards betterment of society, specially to root out some of absolutely unwanted dictats, by raising awareness, it will be so good to live happily.

Take care

I'm sorry but I will kinda differ... I have not watched the show so maybe i don't think you should take my opinion on record, since it can be kinda baseless...

Instead of starting a show, where social issues are highlighted, and apparently it is telecasted on DD also so that even rural area ke log can watch it... i don't think it serves the purpose. People even from the rural areas are very much aware of all this. C'mon man, take dowry death for example. They know killing a fellow human being is immoral and wrong but they still do it. I just feel, he could have started an NGO in remote villages, where volunteers could have gone to each and every home where such events occur (After taking a survey, they could have found out which areas have such incidents occuring) and then threatened them or directly put them behind the bars, or again, going to each n every home and providing free education for the kids there and providing free labour to help the dads or something.

Ok, I rambled too much, but yeah, this was my point :P

Good post nevertheless! I must watch this show though. Will youtube it soonly.

Brilliant post! :D
Taslima Nasreen atleast to me, seems more of an anti male than the feminist she claims to be.. So unke opinion ko chuck kar do! :P
I agree with what you said. And hey, even if he is doing all of it for money and fame, if this helps a few people atleast, why complain?!
BTW ho do I follow your blog? o.O

Your posts are always an inspiration!

@Jack

Sir, I agree.

@Arpit
Dekho! Dekho!

@Mads
I think you should watch the show... it is good. Also, I think what matters is the message is conveyed through the right channel. People takes celebs seriously, especially small-towners, who knows with this effort, we do see some real improvement in the mindsets.

@Blahblaholic
You can always click on follow. I am not sure if it disabled for my blog.
